AFL TRANSACTIONS

 

·         Signed 2-year contract extention on 6/28/08.

 

 

CONTRACT STATUS

 

·         Signed through the 2010 season.

·         No prior AFL experience.

 

2008 SEASON

 

Week 1 at Philadelphia: Started at fullback and finished with one carry for three yards and one reception for eight yards.  Provided solid pass protection for quarterback Shane Stafford. 

 

Week 2 at New Orleans: Started at fullback and finished with one carry for one-yard that picked up a key first down.  Also recorded two receptions for 19 yards in the game. 

 

Week 3 vs. Utah: Started at fullback and provided solid protection for quarterback Shane Stafford.  Recovered Utah's on-sides kick that set up the Predators last touchdown.

 

Week 4 vs. Georgia: Started at fullback recording 3 carries for 9 yards and provided solid protection for quarterback Shane Stafford who was not sacked.

 

Week 5 at Columbus: Started at fullback and got 4 carries for 5 yards. Also recorded 1.5 tackles on the kickoff coverage unit.

 

Week 6 vs. Chicago: Started at fullback, made a big hit on special teams, scored a game-tying two-point conversion on a fake extra point play. Credited with 1.5 tackles.

 

Week 7 at Grand Rapids: Started at fullback, scored his first touchdown of the season on a 39-yard reception in the first half. Also gained 13 rushing yards.

 

Week 8 at Georgia: Started at fullback, posted his most outstanding game of the season with 3 receptions for 81 yards and 2 touchdowns. His final reception was a 33-yard play in which his helmet was ripped off by a Force player. For his efforts, Armstrong was awarded Offensive Player of the Game.

 

Week 9 vs. Tampa Bay: Started at fullback, finished with 4 rushing yards and 22 receiving yards.

 

Week 10 vs. San Jose: Started at fullback with 5 carries for 9 yards and a 16-yard reception while helping the offensive line protect the quarterback.

 

Week 11 at Cleveland: Started at fullback and had 2 receptions for 4 yards in the game. 

 

Week 12 at Kansas City: Started at fullback gaining 37 yards on 5 carries while adding one catch for a 4-yard touchdown. 

 

Week 13 vs. Dallas: Started at fullback, had one carry for no yards. 

 

Week 14 vs. Arizona: Started at fullback posting 2 receptions for 6 yards and a touchdown.

 

Week 15 at Tampa Bay: Started at fullback and had an outstanding game with 19 rushing yards on 3 carries while recording 24 receiving yards on 2 receptions including an 11-yard touchdown reception. Also converted two 2-point conversions, one rushing and one receiving.

 

Week 16 vs. New Orleans: Started at fullback posting his best performance of 2008, he had 36 rushing yards, including 2 touchdowns from 3 and 25 yards respectively. He also caught 2 passes for 20 yards including a 19-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter.

 

OTHER PRO EXPERIENCE

 

·         Appeared in seven games with the af2’s Tulsa Talons.

·         Averaged 4.2 yards per carry with six rushing touchdowns.

·         Added two touchdown receptions and 100 receiving yards.

·         Armstrong is a graduate of Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
